Presentation Information:  


This presentation will provide an overview of an ongoing project sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and the energy industry. The project focuses on repurposing retired oil and gas assets for renewable energy production by harnessing the vast, inexhaustible geothermal energy resources found underground. Currently, there are millions of these assets in the U.S. and around the world, offering a continuous, 24/7 energy source for surrounding communities. The presentation will include a review of the project background and an in-depth demonstration of its operation at a dedicated field site in Oklahoma.


Speaker Bio: 


Dr. Saeed Salehi has joined SMU Lyle School of Engineering as the Herman Brown Endowed Chair in Engineering and Professor of Mechanical and Civil Engineering.
